Museums at Night - Bristol Museum and Art Gallery
16 May - 16 May 2013
Gallery: Bristol Museum and Art Gallery
Join Gavin Turk and Bristol Museum & Art Gallery for a happening with the Pharaohs.
On Thursday 16 May, from 5pm to 8pm, Bristol Museum & Art Gallery will take part in Museums at Night, Culture24's festival of inspiring after hours cultural events in museums, galleries and heritage sites. In collaboration with artist Gavin Turk the museum will host an Egyptian Extravaganza inspired by the museum’s latest exhibition from the British Museum, Pharaoh: King of Egypt.
It promises to be a mystical evening of Egyptian-themed encounters with real scarab beetles, Egyptian makeup, Arabic music and dance performances and storytelling. Expect pyramid building, gallery tours and Egyptian tales as Turk reveals his own quirky interpretation of a magic flying carpet experience by exploring the mystical power of the pyramid, linking ancient and modern Egyptian worlds.
For one night only, visitors will also be able to enjoy 2 for 1 entry on tickets for Pharaoh: King of Egypt.
Pharaoh: reborn an exhibition of watercolours by Giovanni Belzoni and the museum’s fantastic Egypt will also be available to explore after hours.
